Masung Highlights Flexible ID Card Printing as Organizations Adapt to Changing Credential Needs

SHENZHEN, China —( SP Tech Solutions )—August 19, 2026 — Organizations managing employee, student, visitor and event credentials are facing increasingly varied identification requirements, creating demand for printing systems that can support routine issuance as well as smaller, time-sensitive requests. Shenzhen Masung Intelligent Equipment Co., Ltd. is highlighting its MS-S22K ID card printer as organizations evaluate more flexible approaches to credential production.
The development comes as identification programs become less dependent on a single large production cycle. Businesses may need credentials for new employees, replacements or contractors throughout the year. Schools and universities can continue issuing cards after the main enrollment period, while events may require updated credentials shortly before staff or attendee lists are finalized.
For these situations, an internal printing capability can provide an additional option alongside traditional outsourced production. Organizations can continue using external providers for large, predictable orders while handling smaller or urgent requirements internally.
The ID card printing solutions offered by Masung include the MS-S22K, which is designed for full-color identification card production with single- and dual-sided printing. According to company specifications, the system can produce a full-color YMCKO card in approximately 20 seconds in single-sided mode and 42 seconds in dual-sided mode. Its standard input capacity is 100 cards, with higher-capacity hopper configurations also available.
The printer uses direct-to-card dye-sublimation technology and supports CR-80 cards with edge-to-edge printing. Listed connectivity options include USB, Ethernet and RS232. Optional configurations can also support contact IC, contactless smart-card and magnetic-stripe functions, depending on the credential requirements of the organization.
Credential production, however, represents only one part of an organization’s broader identification and access process. Depending on the application, cards may contain photographs, employee information, barcodes, QR codes, magnetic-stripe data or smart-card technology. The National Institute of Standards and Technology’s SP 800-116 Revision 1 addresses the use of Personal Identity Verification credentials in facility access and emphasizes the relationship between credentials and authentication mechanisms.
Organizations evaluating printing equipment must therefore consider more than print speed. Production volume, turnaround requirements, card format, printing method, encoding capabilities, software compatibility and internal credential procedures can all affect equipment selection.
Card dimensions and physical characteristics are another consideration. The ISO/IEC 7810 identification-card standard defines characteristics for identification cards, including dimensions and requirements for formats such as ID-1. Organizations should verify that equipment is compatible with the card formats and materials used within their credential programs.
The MS-S22K illustrates how card-printing equipment can support organizations that need a combination of planned production and on-demand capability. Rather than replacing outsourced printing altogether, internal equipment can serve as a complementary resource for replacements, temporary credentials and smaller production runs.
As workforce populations, visitor requirements and access procedures continue to change, organizations are increasingly evaluating how credential workflows can respond to those changes. For some, centralized external production will remain appropriate. Others may benefit from maintaining internal capacity for situations where flexibility and turnaround are important.
