DWARFLAB Makes Astrophotography More Accessible with Smart Telescopes for Every Experience Level
United States - October 24, 2026- From the ultra-portable DWARF Mini to the advanced Draco, DWARFLAB offers app-controlled imaging options for astronomy newcomers and experienced enthusiasts alike.

Product lineup at a glance: DWARF 3, Draco and DWARF Mini. In the graphic, paired optical figures denote aperture diameter / 35 mm-equivalent focal length (telephoto astronomy mode for Draco). Maximum exposure times shown for DWARF Mini and DWARF 3 refer to EQ mode; Draco uses built-in guiding and field-rotation correction for long exposures in alt-azimuth mode.
DWARFLAB is showcasing its smart telescope lineup—DWARF Mini, DWARF 3 and Draco—to make astronomy and astrophotography more approachable across different levels of experience. From lightweight equipment for a first night under the stars to integrated tools for longer-exposure imaging, each model combines optical hardware, digital imaging and smartphone-based controls.
Traditional astrophotography often calls for multiple pieces of equipment, careful alignment and a learning curve. DWARFLAB’s app-guided telescopes simplify many of these steps with automated target finding, tracking and imaging tools, allowing users to spend more time exploring the night sky.
DWARF Mini: A Portable Starting Point
Weighing approximately 840 g, the DWARF Mini is designed for beginners and travelers who value portability. Its 30 mm telephoto aperture and app-guided operation make it a convenient option for trying astrophotography during camping trips, travel or observing sessions under darker skies. A compact, straightforward setup can help newcomers make stargazing a regular activity.
DWARF 3: More Ways to Explore
For users looking to expand their imaging possibilities, the 1.35 kg DWARF 3 pairs a 35 mm telephoto aperture with wide-angle imaging and smartphone controls. Its dual-camera design supports astronomy as well as birdwatching and scenery photography, giving enthusiasts a versatile device for exploring a wider range of subjects and building experience over time.
Draco: Bringing Advanced Astrophotography Within Reach
Draco extends the lineup with more advanced deep-sky imaging capabilities while preserving an automated, app-guided experience. Featuring a 90 mm aperture, a 340 mm actual telephoto focal length (equivalent to 1,200 mm in 35 mm terms in astronomy mode) and a body weighing approximately 5.5 kg, Draco is designed for enthusiasts ready to explore more demanding celestial targets.
Combining built-in guiding with physical CMOS field-rotation correction, Draco supports long-exposure astrophotography in alt-azimuth mode without conventional polar alignment. It offers single-frame exposures of up to 300 seconds under supported observing conditions, automated target finding and tracking, and up to five hours of battery life, depending on use.
Draco comes in two editions. The Standard Edition includes an internal Hα + O III dual-narrowband filter and a built-in ND filter for solar imaging. The SHO Edition includes Hα + O III and S II + O III filters to support automated SHO, or Hubble Palette, imaging. For solar imaging with the SHO Edition, users must install the included external ND filter before use.
By integrating the optical system, automated tracking and imaging workflow into one device, Draco reduces the need to assemble and manage a complex traditional astrophotography setup.
Practical Tips for Getting Started
Beginners can start with bright celestial objects, choose locations with darker skies and use a stable support. Allowing enough time for image capture—and checking weather forecasts, cloud cover and the Moon’s phase—can improve the observing experience. Final results will vary with viewing conditions, the chosen target and equipment settings.
Finding the Right DWARFLAB Telescope
DWARF Mini emphasizes portability and an easy entry into astrophotography; DWARF 3 adds a flexible dual-camera experience for users who want to explore more types of imaging; and Draco brings longer-exposure deep-sky capabilities to an integrated, app-controlled platform. Users can compare specifications, observing modes and accessories to choose the model that best matches their goals.
